REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

June 2, 2025

 

The City Council of the City of Woden met in regular session on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 6:00pm, Council Chambers.

 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Paul Buns at 6:02pm.

 Council members present were: Bill Rout, Jeff Stucki, Andrew Plessel and Dylan Brandt

 Absent: Tip Piper

 

Plessel made the motion to approve the agenda, minutes written for April 21, 2025, payment of bills totaling $22,874.94 and financial reports, Brandt seconded

Ayes- 4 (Piper Absent)            Nays- 0            Motion Carried

 

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Road Work Discussions: Brandt met with Jeremy Pervis from Hancock County and summarized the Findings from that meeting with the Council for further discussions on a Road Maintenance program for the City.  Brandt will further explore options and costs to discuss at future meetings.

 

Ragbrai Street Closures: The council discussed the closure of 1st Street between Bush and Way, 2nd Street between Bush and Way, and Main Street between 1st and 3rd for the event on July 22nd, 2025.  Plessel made the motion to allow the closures, Brandt seconded.

Ayes- 4 (Piper Absent) Nays- 0            Motion Carried

 

Waive Vendor Fees for Pickleball Fundraiser and Legion Auxiliary for Ragbrai: Stucki made the motion to wave the fees, Rout seconded.

        NEW BUSINESS

 

Keith Larson Building Work – Alley Drainage: The alley drainage replaced due to work performed to the building was discussed and deemed adequate.

 

Fireworks Permit for Don/Jason Krull for July 3rd: Stucki made the motion to approve the permit, Rout seconded.

Ayes- 4 (Piper Absent) Nays- 0            Motion Carried

 

Mayor and Council Elections: The council was informed the seats held by Jeff Stucki, Bill Rout and Andrew Plessel are up for election in November, as well as the seat for Mayor currently held by Paul Buns.

 

Water Supply Monitoring Violation – Quarterly Nitrite Testing: Discussed the missing testing and steps taken to prevent this from happening in the future.

 

Gold Eagle Solar Farm Permit: Discussed the newly submitted paperwork.  Council conditionally passed the permit provided mechanical drawings are provided to the city in a timely manner.  Plessel made the motion, Brandt seconded.

 Ayes- 4 (Piper Absent) Nays- 0            Motion Carried

 

Open for discussion: Dogs barking and not leashed in town was discussed.

Young kids riding ATV’s and Golf Carts in town was discussed.

 

Adjournment: Rout made motion to adjourn at 7:02 PM, Plessel seconded
